Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal can be a sticky business, whether it is on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually transforms into a black smudge on concrete. But usually before that happens, visitors and customers walking into a store or office will walk on it and track it in all over your carpets and mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else.
We are proud to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Arvada CO. Find more information on our service below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left recently and it hasn’t penetrated the surface yet, we might be able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping the gum off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a warm and sticky glob. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum. After that we move the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the whole piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is already smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat turned up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal, we won’t use high pressure because that will sometimes damage the surface of the concrete!
Our team never uses any more pressure than needed to clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only 1-2 years old. Concrete can require up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional gum removal service.
To completely remove gum from concrete and other surfaces we use specially designed hot water pressure washing equipment and special soaps that allow us to clean the concrete without resulting in any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure equipment, we are able to safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our process will also eliminate bacteria and germs that are found in gum on concrete.
By hiring Arvada Pressure Washing for routine maintenance cleaning at your store or office, your commercial property will have better curb appeal and your gum removal problems will be dealt with! You will also prevent damage to carpets and interior flooring while making your storefront much more appealing to visitors.
